Students from Granville District, NSW schools have published a collection of poems called Granville Poets. The poems were written for submission to the 2003 Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards. Students could choose Moving On or a theme of their own for their poetry. The Community Relations Commission (NSW) category highlighting the cultural diversity within the Australian community was won by a student from Homebush West Public School with her poem Aussie Difference.
Prior to the competition students from participating schools enjoyed a whole day workshop with renowned Australian poet, Deb Westbury, who unveiled the mystery of poetry writing and enthused both students and teachers.
