Country and City Students win 2009 Harmony Day Poster Competition
The 2009 Harmony Day poster competition attracted almost 3000 entries from primary and high school students across NSW. This very successful Harmony Day initiative conducted since 2005 is a project of the Education Task Force and organised by a committee made up of representatives from B'nai B'rith, various organisations and education authorities. The theme for the 2009 Harmony Day poster competition was 'Building Community Harmony'.
The presentation of certificates and prizes to regional and state prize-winners is on Wednesday 25 March 2009 at NSW Parliament House. Ms Joanna Capon will launch the exhibition of prizewinning posters as part of the prize giving ceremony. A full list of winners and runners-up and their prizewinning posters can be viewed on the website www.movingforwardtogether.com.au
In 2009 judges awarded joint winners in both the senior section and junior sections. The State senior winners were Vidhya Karnamadakala from East Hills Girls High School and Caelan Baldwin-Core from Bede Polding College; the State junior winners Bethany Thornber from Corowa South Public School and Cindy Bondfield from Glenmore Park Public School. Bethany Thornber was a junior section joint winner in last year's Harmony Day competition. A full list of regional prize winners can be found on the back of this flyer.
From 14 March - 14 April 2009, the winning posters will be on public display at the Bowen Library, 669 - 673 Anzac Parade, Randwick. Other exhibitions of the posters are planned for Customs House, Circular Quay in June, Margot Hardy Gallery, Bankstown (July), Penrith Council Library (October) and possible regional centres such as Newcastle and Wollongong.
