What do you do?

I'm an administative officer in the Aboriginal Programs Unit
of the Department of Education and Training in Sydney.

How old are you?

I'm 19.

Where were you born?

Nowra, NSW

Where did you grow up?

Jervis Bay until I was 12, then Sydney.

Describe your cultural/religious/ethnic family background

My mother is Aboriginal and my father has an English background.

Do you know any other languages? If so what are they?

No

What is your favourite place in the world and why?

Sydney - there's always something to do.

Have you ever experienced or witnessed racism?
How did it make you feel?

Yes, experienced and witnessed. It made me extremely angry.

What did you do about it?

I always have to say something when I see or hear racism. It may not always help
the situation but it's better than letting them get away with it.

What advice would you give kids experiencing racism?

Racism stems from a lack of understanding and knowledge of things different to people.
Be proud of who you are and stand up for yourself.

What kind of Australia would you like to see for our children?

One with a tolerant and understanding society.
I'd like to see an Australia that acknowledges and accepts its past.
