Describe your cultural/religious/ethnic family background Aboriginal culture, brought up in a Christian household. Do you know any other languages? If so what are they? Yes, the Aboriginal language of my tribe, the Nucoorilma. What is your favourite place in the world and why? The golf course because it relaxes me and I can get away from it all. Have you ever experienced or witnessed racism? How did it make you feel? Yes, I have experienced racism when I was younger. It made me feel degraded but it also motivated me to become what I am now. What did you do about it? I ignored it and as I said it motivated me to achieve the goals I had set. What advice would you give kids experiencing racism? You are what you are, nothing or no-one can change that so be proud of who you are. What kind of Australia would you like to see for our children? One without politics. Freedom for kids to develop their knowledge of each others' heritage and culture. For all children to treat each other as equals. |
