Sorry - A New Beginning
Reconciliation Week 2008

Reconciliation Week for 2008 will take place around the nation from the 27th May to 3rd June 2008 and provides an occasion to focus on reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

The NSW theme for Reconciliation Week 2008 is Sorry - A New Beginning.

As part of Reconciliation Week a Rememberance Service will be held at the Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park on Friday 30th May at 11 am.

The service is to recognise the contribution that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander veterans have made to Australia. Her Excellency, the Governor of NSW and representatives of State and Federal Governments will attend. The Organising Committee encourages all Indigenous veterans and their families, the wider veteran communities and the general public to join them.

During Reconciliation Week the Anzac Memorial Museum will feature displays centred on the contribution made by Indigenous Australian veterans. These include the Australian War Memorial's display box Too Dark for the Light Horse and the video Norforce which follows a group of young Aboriginal men during their induction and training as soldiers in the Norforce Unit of the Australian Army.
