Honours for Racism. No way!
National Corporate Anti-Racism Awards 2001
At a ceremony in Queen's Hall, Parliament House Melbourne, Racism. No way! was named winner of the Government Agency category of the National Corporate Anti-Racism Awards 2001. The keynote speaker was the Hon Peter Beattie, Premier of Queensland. The panel of judges consisted of the Rt Hon Sir Zelman Cowen, the Rt Hon Malcolm Fraser and the Hon Bob Hawke. The over-all winner was the PREMIER THINKING (Players Remember Eliminate Mindless Intolerance & Eradicate Racism) campaign of the Australian Football League with the message There is NO room in football for RACISM.
The National Corporate Anti-Racism Awards are jointly sponsored by the B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission Inc and the Australian Multicultural Foundation. These annual awards recognise corporate and business commitment to policies and practices promoting racial harmony within the workplace and the greater community through employment, product development and marketing.
The Australian Awards for Excellence in Educational Publishing 2001
Racism. No way! was also honoured to be one of four websites short listed in the Secondary Website section of The Australian Awards for Excellence in Educational Publishing 2001.
These awards, supported by The Australian newspaper celebrate Australian educational publishing and recognise the work in all areas including resources which link screen-based and print-based materials. The awards, instituted in 1994, are judged by a panel of teachers, educators, academics and others under the auspices of the Teaching Resources and Textbook Research Unit (TREAT) at the University of Sydney.
