Behaviour Management Plan Review Project
Schools are required to review and evaluate all aspects of their Behaviour
Management Plans. The aim of the review is to ensure that practices and
structures established by schools to manage student behaviour are consistent
with all department policy, including the Anti-Racism Policy Statement and the
Culture and Language Diversity in Education Statement.
Bullying. No way!
Bullying. No way! is a website resource managed by Education Queensland on behalf of Australia's State and Territory government education systems, the National Catholic Education Commission, the National Council of Independent Schools' Associations and the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training.
As well as background information on bullying, harassment and violence, and access to resources, the website provides a framework and opportunities for school communities - staff, students and carers - to develop and share their workable solutions with schools across the country. Culture and Language in Education Policy and Training and
Development
Schools are able to request support from the current Education Queensland
Student Service Branch, Brisbane to facilitate workshops that address issues
which redress inequalities and reshape curriculum to cater for the educational
needs of culturally and linguistically diverse groups and by deciding on
cultural learnings for all students.
Teaching English as a Second Language to Indigenous Students
(TESLIS)
This kit is an interactive multi-media package for educators of Indigenous
children. It promotes cross-cultural understanding as a means of facilitating a
more relevant approach to teaching English.
Under the Skin: Combating Racism in Queensland Schools
Under the Skin: Combating Racism in Queensland Schools is a professional
development package for teachers and others working in the field of education.
It is designed to support schools in the specific implementation of:
- Cultural and Language Diversity in Education
- Anti-Racism Policy Statement.
The program consists of a series
of workshop activities which focus on:
- developing understandings of concepts such as racism, prejudice,
stereotyping and discrimination
- exploring how racism is socially and historically constructed
- strategies to counter racism in all its forms in the school
setting.
A one hour video is used to stimulate discussion throughout
the workshops.
