Aboriginal and Islander Education Workers (AIEWs)

AIEWs provide support to the staff, students and the Aboriginal community in an effort to enhance the effectiveness of school based programs. AIEWs focus on:

  • student attendance
  • achieving students
  • underachieving students
  • community participation
  • pastoral care
  • liaison
  • advocacy.

Bilingual Assistants

Bilingual Assistants are based in Intensive Language Centres to provide interpreting assistance to students and parents and to provide classroom support and cultural awareness for students and staff.

Visiting Teachers

Visiting teachers provide support for Stage One primary students not able to access an Intensive Language Centre.

Aboriginal and Islander Tertiary Aspirations Program (AITAP)

The Aboriginal and Islander Tertiary Aspirations Program (AITAP) is a school and community based program for Aboriginal students who want to complete Year 12 and aspire to a successful career. The AITAP involves a range of activities that will enable students to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to pursue their aspirations.
