- Discuss what Reconciliation means to you.
- Individually or in pairs write definitions /interpretations of Reconciliation.
- Collate and display the texts.
Additional Strategies
To many Aboriginal people an event witnessed in the natural world can be read as a vision or spirit. In this extract from Patrick Dodson's Wentworth Lecture 2000 he sees the woman's recount of the pelican and the seagull as a positive omen for Reconciliation
- In groups students download and read the extract from Patrick Dodson's Wentworth Lecture 2000 and discuss the significance of the pelican seagull analogy.
- Discuss the significance of the old Irish saying Bigots and begrudgers will never bid the past farewell in the Australian context.
- Individually, in pairs or in small groups students compose poems or prose to reflect the vision of Reconciliation
