- Divide the years since European settlement of Australia into decades and allocate periods to individual or groups of students.
- Students go online to the Racism.no way. timeline and research significant dates.
- Students come together to assemble timeline.
- Discuss the progress that has been made and relate it to Reconciliation.
- Discuss the direction students feel Australia is taking.
Additional Strategies
- In groups students create a series of depictions or tableaux to illustrate the most significant events in their decade.
- The rest of the class responds by captioning the scenes.
- Captions are sequenced to form a timeline.
